The latest rendition of Baller League is a venture to unite and expand football in the United Kingdom and United States.
The term ‘Baller League’ is already known in Germany but is soon to become a household name in the UK and USA. Some of the biggest YouTubers including KSI and iShowSpeed are taking charge of their respective countries as presidents.
Some of the biggest football names have already been showcased for the Baller League which includes - Ronaldinho, John Terry, Juis Figo, Gary Linekar, Alan Shearer, Robert Pires, and Freddie Ljungberg.
What Is the Baller League?
This is a six-a-side game format which will feature 12 teams. These teams will include managers and possibly co-managers and some of the star players of football around the globe. The Baller League will blend the rush of street football and the exhilaration of modern football without any flow disruptions. The league will be livestreamed on YouTube and Twitch.
What Is the Origin of the Baller League?
The seed for the Baller League was sown by Germany legends Mats Hummels and Lukas Podolski in the early 2024. The German rendition has already completed 2 seasons with Alisha Lehmann coaching Streets United who won the first season.
The Baller League was inspired by the Spanish Kings League that was created by the former Barcelona superstar Gerard Pique in 2023. However, Kings League featured 7-a-side teams but the approach and vision remains the same.
What Is the Format of the Baller League?
The tournament will feature 12 teams of six players in a league-type format. The top four teams will battle it out in the semi finals and the winning team in the final will be crowned as the ultimate Baller League champion.
What Are the Baller League Rules?
All the matches will be 30 minutes long with 15-minute halves. There will be no corners and if the ball goes behind the goal 3 times, there will be a MLS-styled penalty. The player will have a total of 6 seconds to score the penalty with no option of rebounds. VAR assistance will be available during the match but the team can only use it once throughout the match.
The biggest attraction of the Baller League will be the last 3 minutes of each halves where randomized rules out of the following will take place.
First half gamechanger rules:
- All the goals scored from outside the offside line count as double.
- Rest of the half will be played as a 1v1 and the team who scores a goal gets to add a player to their team.
- For 30 seconds, each team plays as a 3v3 and has the option to remove the goalkeeper.
Second half gamechanger rules:
- Any foul committed by a player will see a straight red card.
- For 15 seconds, each team plays as a 1v1 from their half with no hands and playground rules.
- If a team crosses the opponent’s half, they cannot turn back. If the team goes back then the opposition is awarded a free kick.
- A last man standing penalty shootout will take place with the last man getting extra points for their team.
Who Will be Playing in the Baller League?
Start names like John Terry, Ronaldinho, Juis Figo, and Alan Shearer might be seen coaching the team. However, the games will feature professional footballers, academy players, street footballers, and free agents. The team rosters are yet to be announced.
When Does the Baller League Take Place?
The Baller League is scheduled to kick off in March 2025 with match days and official schedule to be announced at the start of 2025.
